Suffrutice with an erect posture, St. John's wort is a perennial and almost evergreen species.
Widely used as a healing plant, the bright yellow flowering coincides with June 24th, the day dedicated to Saint John, another common name by which the species is known.
Maceration in oil used for the preparation of St. John's wort oil, used as a cure for insect bites and burns.
