Coriandrum sativum, also known as Chinese parsley or Cilantro, is an annual herbaceous plant.
Native to Mediterranean countries, fresh leaves and dried seeds are mainly used in Indian, Thai and Latin American cuisine. Today it is widely used and appreciated throughout Europe.
IThe fresh leaves are an ingredient in many foods, such as chutneys and salads, salsa, guacamole, and as a widely used garnish for soup, fish and meat.. In Tenerife it is used for the preparation of Green Mojito together with boiled potatoes and meat. In the past, it was also found in mortadella in Italy.
