Perennial herbaceous with strongly jagged foliage, the yarrow is widely spread as a spontaneous plant throughout northern Italy.
The plant prefers well-drained soil in full sun.
Achillea millefolium is largely cultivated as an ornamental plant by many nurseries, but there's also a culinary use of leaves and flowers in making liquors and bitters. Common yarrow has been often used in the traditional medicine for its astringent effects.
Manageable both in pot and in full garden, form cushions of compact vegetation. The small white flowers, which the plant produces during the summer period, are particularly interesting for bees and Other insects pollinators.
